About Mystery Footballer

Mystery Footballer was created for people who have filled their brains with what others might call useless information on the career paths of Premier League footballers.

Would you look at a career including Coventry, Birmingham and Sheffield United, and immediately think of Peter Ndlovu? Could you see a Brighton lifer (if you ignore loans to Bognor Regis and Bristol City) and see Lewis Dunk? If so, you're in the right place.

How It Works

The game randomly selects a footballer from a database of players who have played at least 80 games in the Premier League. Once a player has been selected, they cannot be selected again until the entire database has been played through, although you can replay games by clicking the 'Play the Archive' button.

The game resets daily at midnight and all players have the same daily player.

Why These Clues

The aim of the game is to guess the player from the career path; goals, appearances, honours or favourite colour would make it too easy.

The other clues are designed to help you reset if you've got the completely wrong thing in your head and can't get it out (apart from the initials, which are included to give you one last chance before you kick yourself and never play again).

Maintenance Standards & Errors

The aim is to update the database after every UK transfer window, but it must be stressed this is an aim rather than a promise. If players sign for clubs outside of these windows, this will not be captured until the next window closes at the earliest.

If you notice any errors in any of the clues outside of this, please let me know at joe@mysteryfootballer.com .
